Good Morning! Here are our top 3 wake-me-up stretches!

Good morning! Let’s start the day as well as we possibly can by using the right stretches to open up the body and get the circulation going. Here are our top three and a couple of extra tips on how to start your day with the best attitude and energy possible.

1.

Reach for the stars and into Mountain Pose (Tadasana) – Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Raise your arms slowly, keeping them straight with your fingertips extended as far as you can. Bring them together above your head and hold for 5 deep breaths. Then bring your hands down, keeping your palms pressed together, and hold them in front of your sternum for 5 breaths. Take your palms apart and slowly let your hands move back to your sides. Repeat this until you feel grounded and present in the day and have let go of sleep.

2.

Interlock your fingers behind your head, at the top of the nape of your neck. Twist to the left and right, holding on each side for 5 breaths. Breathe in as you twist, and out as you hold. Repeat this as many times as you like, and give your shoulders a good roll after you finish.

3.

Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and slowly drop forward until you are hanging from your hips. You’ll feel your calves and the backs of your thighs stretching. Take a moment to just dangle there, breathing deeply, relaxing your arms and allowing your lower back to stretch out.

PS: You can use any combination of these stretches to give you that morning boost and will feel the benefit of it immediately – suddenly the day to come doesn’t feel like that big a task at all!
