What Tips For Working On The Throat Chakra Can You Give?

Don’t overlook the Throat Chakra! In some ways it is the keystone of the Chakras when dealing with the non-spiritual, everyday world. It can hinder the health of the other Chakras by stopping you communicating your ideas and feelings to others. Humans are social creatures – we need to share our thoughts and ideas to truly realise them. If you’ve made a creative or intuitive breakthrough while meditating on another Chakra, the inability to share and express it may stop it coming to fruition at all!

At the root of our problems communicating is always a fear of some kind – that we may say the wrong thing, or harm relationships, or ‘lose face’ publicly. But it is precisely lack of proper communication that causes these problems. Our fear of causing them causes them!

A good way to ‘practice’ your communication skills is actually to listen. Who around you do you admire for how they really paint a picture with words? Which friend do you know who is honest and positive in conversation? Who do you know who speaks bravely of subjects others avoid? Listen to them. Observe how they choose their words. What did they say, and how? Why did it work? How did they avoid harm broaching delicate subjects? For some these skills are innate, instinctive parts of who they are. Speak honestly to them, and ask for advice. It’s likely no one has asked them something like this before! (and they’ll be flattered someone appreciated them for it!)

To us, this is the meaning of Vishuddha: Speak honestly, but kindly, to others. Own your words. Don’t let fear hold your own hands over your mouth.
