Yogamasti Feat. Race For Life / Cancer Research UK

Yup, that’s right – you read that correctly! Yogamasti cares about finding cures for all Cancers. This is why we spent the week asking for sponsorship for this wonderful cause, as Lauren ran for life yesterday. Race For Life is a crucial race for women only where all funds are primarily forwarded to Breast Cancer Research but also help to fund all kinds of research.

All week Yogamasti has supplied Lauren with clothes to train in, and helped her with her general fitness with tips and support in every way.

Day 1: Lauren started off the week with some important stretches, she had been training for a couple of weeks and her fitness levels were increasingly higher day by day.

Day 2: Just when Lauren thought she had rock-hard abs, Aanika makes her exercise them and we quickly realise just how much she’s been neglecting them! Working your abs will help you immensely on the long run!

Day 3: Practicing some more leg stretches, such as the one shown on the pic below where the hamstrings are given a deep stretch before & after undertaking a nice gentle jog. Here the target time of 30min starts to seem possible…

Day 4: Not too long before the race now, getting everything prepared for the big day and wearing the Race For Life wristbands to show Cancer what’s coming!

Day 5: All the training is behind us from this day on – so this is the time to relax and calm your muscles down before the big day! Here it’s important to energise your body by feeding it some good ol’ pasta dishes.

Day 6: One day left!!! The anticipation is rising, the training is done… All that’s left now is to get a good night’s sleep to prepare yourself mentally and physically.

Day 7: Aaannnd DONE!! She did it!! Lauren ran 5k in under 30min and she couldn’t be happier! Bravo *massive round of applause*. As a Team Leader, Lauren & her team raised a whopping £300 for Cancer Research UK thanks to all of the support given to them by friends & family.
