The meaning of Anahata: Love! The heart Chakra is our warm and compassionate center and governs our ability to love, understand, and communicate compassion. Love is the great healing force, after all! And that means self love, too! We all need to exercise the same compassion and understanding on ourselves that we do on others. You’ll find the Anahata is the Chakra symbol that you’ve seen most (it’s painted on two of our camisoles, too) as it is considered the healing centre of the self. It it is the central Chakra, found just over the heart.
So What is the Heart Chakra Associated With?
- Love
- Warmth
- Compassion both to others and ourselves
- Serenity and feelings of peace in the self
- Self acceptance
- Platonic intimacy and affection
- Healing and mending relationships
- Friendship
- Forgiveness
What are signs of Heart Chakra Problems?
- A short temper
- Lack of patience with others
- Feelings of loneliness and disconnection
- Focusing on past mistakes
- Unforgiving thoughts
- Judging others
- Having unrealistically high standards for others
- Self isolation
- Not finding the time to give love and warmth
If you’re experiencing these problems the first thing to do is hug-it-out! In this world there is so little time and acceptance of platonic intimacy. We need non-sexual, expectation free human warmth to stay balanced. It’s this kind of intimacy that keeps us connected to others. When we realise the value of it, everything changes.
Don’t worry if you’re not a hugger – you don’t have to go giving them out! But hug your kids (even the big ones that sigh about it), sit close with your friends on the couch, hug loved ones instead of rushing out the door. The meaning of Anahata is exactly this! Peace through love, and expressing it for the betterment of everyone. Open your heart, and everything falls into place.
