Its Valentine’s Month….Open Up Your Heart

Yogamasti Valentines Month

When everyone around is going head over heels about falling in love, planning a date with their partner on Valentine’s Day, looking for someone to go out with or sulking over the fact that you are all alone on the day of love, etc. etc. etc….It time to rethink a few things over and open up our hearts to the world around us.

Valentines YogaOk I am not here to preach or someone who is against the idea of celebrating love and nor am I of the idea that I don’t want to celebrate someone in my life, but one crucial thing I read which struck a cord was have we forgotten to love our own selves….Your closest soul mate, the one who’s been there for you during all the ups and downs of your life and the person who has never, ever left you, and never will…..Yes Yes I am talking about YOU!!

I am strongly a believer that until and unless you are happy with yourself and you love your own soul no matter who you are with and what your partner does for you, you can never be fully satisfied or happy.

The search from love doesn’t start externally but internally….so stop looking outside for it and start treating yourself like the princess or princess, king or queen that you want some else to do for you….So lets start it this Valentines…why wait…

Wondering how can yoga help you do that??

DSC_2481Always remember True love starts from within and when you practice yoga with full conviction you are giving your body, mind and soul that affection and love that it needs..

Many poses help you open up your heart towards the world and also to the people around…here are a few that you should look at incorporating in your practice:

  • Full Wheel Pose  or Chakrasana
  • Fish Pose, or Matsyasana
  • Lord of the dance pose or Natarajasana
  • Cow face pose or Gomukhasana
  • Seated forward pose or PaschimottanasanaYogamasti Aanika Fish Pose

All these asanas help stretch you chest cavity, lengthen and strengthen the spine for better posture and open the heart.

So its good to be a bit of a narcissist at times….love yourself first and open up your heart towards others.
